![]() ![]() The fights last between 5-30 seconds depending on your damage output and playstyle. Every monster has its own unique attack, you simply must avoid damage and kill all the enemies, and move on to the next chamber. The gameplay is slightly roguelike, as soon as you go outside the house of Hades, you are met with monsters to fight. As Zagreus, you fight through the Underworld with the help of the Olympian gods to get to the top and see the surface Gameplay The main character, Zagreus is a young lad rebelling against his father Hades, Lord of the Underworld and the Dead. Hades is an action role-playing game developed and published by Supergiant Games, it features myths and legends of ancient greek mythology and is very story focused.Įvery god you will meet in this game is a real character in greek mythology, like Cerberus the three-headed dog that guards the Styx River, or the Olympian gods like Zeus the king of all gods, and his brother Poseidon, the god of the sea, it stays true to original ancient greek mythology BUY THIS GAME!!!! I will continue to play this game until I get burnt out of it.Available On: Steam, Epic, Nintendo eShop I barley have any problems with this game, and the ones I do have can boil down to me just being bad at the game. This doesn't mean it's perfect, just that its a masterpiece. THE ARTSTYLE!!! THIS GAME IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!! My score for this game is a 10/10. The weapon upgrades also feel nice and upgrade the look of your weapon. They all have different purposes, and depending on your play style, you'll end up focusing on certain upgrades more than others. The upgrades that you can unlock after dying feel worthwhile and useful. It's nothing I'd listen to outside of the game, but it gets your heart pounding in those intense moments. Considering every line is voice acted, this is super impressive! There are so many different lines to hear, and the voice acting is just perfect. These NPC's always have something interesting to say, and most of the time it's something related to your last run. You also get to talk to multiple gods in the house of hades, which is also where you can upgrade yourself and your weapons. It's a simple enough story at first, but every time you die, some of the story might unlock. Without spoiling much, the playable character (I'll call him his nickname, Zag) is trying to escape the underworld to see the surface. The story of the game is also a highlight. These random abilities can all work together so well. Again, it goes to show how well this games combat is set up. But, like with the weapon, I actually won against the final boss for the first time with a super weird set of powerups. Like the weapons, you'll find specific powerups that you like more than others and you hope they'll be there every run. There are SOOO many different abilities and ability combinations that It would probably take over hundreds of plays to see them all. ![]() These are gifted by multiple gods that help you along your journey. My favorite of these random elements are the "boons" (powerups) that you can get on different floors. Since this is a rougelike, there are a lot of random aspects to the game. Even with weapon's you aren't used tom, as long as you're good with them, you can succeed. That just goes to show though how good the game's combat is. For me though, I actually beat the game for the first time with a weapon I didn't like too much. You'll very quickly get used to one of these weapons and will want to try and beat the game with it. The many different weapons all feel different and have their own play style. ![]() The combat in this game is god damn amazing. In a way, dying in Hades can sometimes feel useful and rewarding, since you can now spend or save all the items you've collected while playing. One of the things I love about this game is that while you start over when you die, progression items carry over, which gives a sense of progression that no other roguelike I've played gives. It still took me a total of 18 tries and 11 hours to beat the final boss for the first time even with this god mode on. I had fun before I turned god mode on, but the game actually felt beatable when I turned it on. I did eventually take advantage of the game's god mode to make thing's a little more manageable (all god mode does is reduce the damage you take) since I kept dying somewhat quickly. I'll be honest, I'm not the best at these kinds of games, but I found Hades very approachable and enjoyable. I HATE roguelikes, yet I love this game with all my heart. I'll be honest, I'm not the best at these Hades is a goddamn masterpiece of a game. Hades is a goddamn masterpiece of a game. ![]()
